Megan's positive homebirth following trauma

The Positive Births NZ podcast - A podcast by Helen Bartrom

Categories:

This episode needs to come with a warning of traumatic content as Megan shares with us the details of her first birth in order to provide relevant context for her positive birth story. To be completely honest with you, the details of Megan's first birth to Mia has been playing on my mind, and I'm someone who has heard a lot of difficult stories. And I'm not even pregnant, nor will ever be birthing again - - therefore I warn you to proceed with caution. If it will not be beneficial to you to listen a traumatic birth story right now, if you're feeling any type of anxiety, or a bit fragile or you're not in the right place to hear Megan's experiences please skip this episode. You may wonder why on earth am I sharing her story if it's so traumatic? Well, her experience is one that she learned from, that she gained strength, courage and a deeper sense of her intuition. It also demonstrates the power of self healing, mental strength, strong relationship and good communication between her and partner Carl, and a 'knowing'. Obviously her second birth to Maddie is a positive birth story, a very natural and normal homebirth and a story of healing. If you'd like to jump straight to that, this starts around 35-40 mins The biggest messages from us both in this chat are... Mothers: listen to your intuition, you have more 'knowing' that you realise! Plus: ignorance might be bliss, but in a birthing situation knowledge is power.
