Matty's three straight forward homebirths
The Positive Births NZ podcast - A podcast by Helen Bartrom

When Matilda Green heard a positive homebirth story in her pregnancy it created a spark within her which lead to her researching, information gathering and learning skills to help her prepare for a homebirth for her first baby Milo. Matty shares with us the details of her first and second births to Milo and Autumn which were fairly similar in the fact they were straightforward and of a similar (long) duration. But you'll hear about how she felt so different between the first birth and the second one – which she attributes to the difference between doing a lot of work and prep for her first, and none for her second. We then focus more on Matty's recent birth to baby Penelope, who is 10 days old at the time of recording. She shares how she decided she needed to throw the book at her prep and do everything in the book to make sure she could have a much better experience. She worked hard and was committed to this goal as she knew her prep was super important. You'll hear what she did when baby was breech at 35 weeks, how it was waiting for baby to finally arrive at nearly 42 weeks and then all about the smooth and fast for her arrival of her baby girl. Which all happened in perfect timing overnight so that the two other kids slept through and woke up to meet their baby sister tucked up in bed. Along the way you'll also hear what mainstream media published after she announced the arrival of their first born -because it’s very interesting (and sad) what they wanted to say about homebirths and how the public reacted…. The homeopathic remedy mentioned in the episode is Calophyllm. Matty is the host of the Untidy Podcast @unditypodcast- a great podcast for all parents of children all ages, and you can find her on instagram at @matootles If you too would like some tools, techniques and an empowered mindset to help you prepare for birth, head to www.positivebirths.co.nz or follow us on @positive_births_nz
