Georgia's home waterbirth to Ria
The Positive Births NZ podcast - A podcast by Helen Bartrom

"I'm still so proud of my birthing journey. I look back and cry with how proud I am of myself" were the words in an email Georgia wrote to me shortly after the arrival of Ria. Georgia had cervical dysplasia which meant there was a risk of her miscarrying and meant there was a risk that she could miscarry or go into early premature labour which greatly affected the first half of her pregnancy. The extra monitoring required was understandably scary and she was constantly worried - she had to be strong and used mantras to help. Initially scared of birth her dream was to have a home birth (if possible) and Georgia was ready to work at her mental state to get rid of barriers and lean into her innate wisdom. The Positive Birth Book, the podcast and engaging in the live online course totally turned her throughts and feelings around. And all went well for her pregnancy, she even went a little bit past her due date. Georgia had a fast start to labour, but she used her tools, got into the zone, and shares how that went for her. At the end there’s another curveball as Georgia shares about complications with a tear, which required surgery after the birth. If you too would like to learn the skills Georgia learnt in her pregnancy to help her, you can find The Positive Birth book and the Positive Birth courses at www.positivebirths.co.nz.
