Aimee's home VBAC to Hugo
The Positive Births NZ podcast - A podcast by Helen Bartrom

“Probably all logic would have said do not have this baby at home” says Aimee about her successful home VBAC. It turns out that it was stepping outside of the norm, trusting her instincts, being informed, educated and choosing a caregiver to support her that enabled Aimee to bring Hugo into the world within the peace and calm of home. If you’re pregnant and/or planning on a VBAC THIS is a MUST listen episode! Between first birth to Jett and her second pregnancy a number of life changes gave Aimee the growth, faith and belief in herself to be able to back herself for a completely different birth. She prepared comprehensively and holistically and she shares with us all the things she did physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually – she really dedicated herself to this goal of doing the very best she could. She became very well educated on pregnancy and birth and she shares with us some of the reading she did and the resources she used. One of the best moves she made was a change of midwife around 20 weeks. We discuss the difference it made as she compares the same trajectory with both births, yet a contrasting outcome with a different model of care between a hospital obstetrican to a homebirth midwife. Prepare to be inspired and informed in this incredible episode with Aimee.
